Volunteer Opportunities

As a non-profit organization, The Mississippi Golf Association relies heavily on the support of volunteers and continues to grow through the generosity of these individuals. We welcome anyone with an interest in the game of golf in Mississippi and available time during weekdays and or weekends to assist in tournament operations or USGA Course and Slope Ratings.

Sanderson Farms Championship

The Mississippi Golf Association began staffing volunteers at a Mississippi's only PGA Tour stop, the Sanderson Farms Championship. We are seeking active individuals who have an interest in seeing great golf during the week of the championship and be inside the ropes at the same time. We are on hole 6 at the Country Club of Jackson, a great par 4 with views of hole 3 and 8 too.

Our positions include Marshals and ShotLink opperators. Marshals are stationed at the Teeing Ground, Fairway and Green. ShotLink operators are stationed at the Fairway and Green. Marshals are responsible for monitoring the movement of spectators and keeping talking to a minimum from the crowds. Marshals in the Fairway and the Green also assist players in locating a ball.

Check out the Sanderson Farms Championship website for detailed descriptions of the different volunteer positions.

Are you interested in assisting with a State Championship? There are State Championships in every region of Mississippi and we would love to see you are near. There are many areas to assist: Registration Assistant, Hole One or Hole Ten Starter, Rules Official, Live Scoring Volunteer, Junior Golf Assistant, Water Delivery, etc. We appreciate all our volunteers. USGA Couse and Slope Rating Team

The Mississippi Golf Association is responsible for providing all Member Clubs with an updated USGA Course and Slope Rating every several years. Associations rely heavily on volunteer raters assigned to different regions. It is an interesting process and we would love to teach you. Email us if you are interested, missgolf@missgolf.org.

Anyone interested in volunteering or speaking with a tournament staff member on needs of the association should contact the offices of the Mississippi Golf and Junior Golf Associations at 601-939-1131 or email missgolf@missgolf.org. We look forward to hearing from you today!
