Celebrating 100 Years of Golf in Mississippi: A Centennial Tribute

Founded in 1925, the Mississippi Golf Association (MGA) began with just a handful of dedicated Member Clubs. Today, 100 years later, we proudly serve more than 80 Member Clubs and over 11,000 Individual Members, making us stronger and more vibrant than ever.

The MGA has grown into a fully staffed organization, from humble beginnings run by volunteers to currently four full-time employees and a Board of Directors who share a deep passion for the game. Their dedication ensures that key services such as Handicapping, Course Rating, and Championship Administration are delivered with excellence, all while honoring the traditions and preserving the history of golf in the Magnolia State.

Looking Ahead: The Next 100 Years

As we celebrate the past century, we are equally excited about the future. Our mission is rooted in inclusion, opportunity, and growth. We are expanding access to the game through:

  • Junior clinics
  • Rules of Golf & GHIN Handicapping seminars
  • Inclusive “Play Days” at local facilities throughout the state
  • Introductory opportunities for all ages and skill levels
  • Additional junior scholarships

We are also proud to support the development of Adaptive Golf programs in Mississippi, in line with initiatives from the USGA and other Associations. These programs provide people with disabilities or permanent injuries with the equipment, support, and competitive opportunities they deserve to enjoy the game of golf fully.
