MGA Championship Update - March 23

MGA Championship Update - March 23, 2020
MGA Members & Member Clubs,

The Mississippi Golf Association shares your concerns about this terrible crisis that the world finds itself currently in. Our greatest concern continues to be the well-being of everyone involved, and we are respecting the advice of our government health officials, CDC, and other leaders in regards to our upcoming championship schedule.

As of 11:00AM on March 23rd the Mississippi Golf Association has decided to closely follow the recommendations of the CDC and postpone all MGA tournaments through May 10, 2020. The staff is working hard to provide advisory to all of our Member Clubs at this time and postponements or cancellations of any Sanctioned Events will also be communicated through the MGA via email and social media. At this time the following championship schedule changes have been made:

Bill Cass Senior Four-Ball (Postponed) - New Date is Sept. 4-6, 2020
Players who have already registered for this event will remain in the event. Any players looking to withdraw from the event for any reason will be given a 100% refund of their entry fee. We ask that any players looking to withdraw contact the MGA at 601-939-1131 or email our Tournament Director, Adam Smith, at* Please note that Division Ages will be based on the new tournament dates.

Governor's Cup (Postponed) - New Date is TBD
The yearly Governor's Cup between Mississippi and Arkansas has been postponed. The MGA is working closely with Tunica National and the Arkansas State Golf Association to find a new date and as soon as that is finalized we will inform all players who earned an invitation.

Future Postponements - For now, no one knows when it will be safe to resume organized golf activities. At this time no events beyond May 10th have been affected or changed but the MGA will continue to closely monitor the quickly changing climate and lean on the recommendations and mandates provided from the Government and Health Officials. Any further updates or changes will once again be communicated through email and all social media platforms.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.

Warm Regards,

MGA Staff
