Format & Eligibility

Entry Procedure

Divisions

Tournament is scheduled for 54 holes of stroke play; players will be flighted after 36 holes of play within their age division. Field size is limited to the first 104 players. 

 

The Championship is open to male amateurs who are bona fide residents of the state of Mississippi for at least 60 days prior to the first round of the tournament. Participants must conform with the USGA Rules of Amateur Status. All participants in Mississippi Golf Association State Championships will be required to have an active GHIN Handicap through a USGA Licensed Mississippi Club.

All players must apply on an official MGA entry form, or through the MGA Online Registration at www.missgolf.org/onlineregistration. Late, incomplete or inaccurate entry forms will not be accepted. Each MGA tournament has a designated field limit and may fill up. Entries are accepted on a first in basis until the entry deadline or until the tournament is full. The MGA Tournament Committee reserves the right to reject a tournament entry at any time. Entries must be received by 12:00pm, noon Central Time on the published entry deadline date.

Seniors must have reached their 50th birthday prior to the first day of the championship. 

Super Seniors must have reached their 60th birthday prior to the first day of the championship.

Grand Masters must have reached their 70th birthday prior to the first day of the championship.

 

Approximate Yardage:

Senior Division - 6,500 yards

Super Senior Division - 6,000-6,100 yards

Grand Masters Division - 5,650-5,800 yards

Rules and Regulations

If a player withdraws prior to the entry deadline he will receive a full refund, minus a $20.00 administration fee. If a player withdraws after the entry deadline has passed, the player will not receive a refund.

All entrants agree to abide by all MGA Rules and Regulations concerning dress codes, gentlemanly conduct on the Club premises and course beverage policies. Individuals may not bring beverages on the club premises. Contestants (and their caddies) are to observe proper golf etiquette at all times. Any abuse or disrespect of fellow competitors, officials, spectators, employees of the host facility, or other persons conducting or attending an MGA sponsored event can be grounds for disqualification from the event and possible rejection of entry for future MGA events. Such abuse may be verbal or physical or threat thereof and includes, but is not limited to: the use of obscene language, physical damage to property or equipment of the MGA or host facility. Appropriate golf attire is required at all MGA events. This includes collared shirts with sleeves that must be properly tucked in at all times, walking shorts or slacks. The dress code of the host facility will prevail if there is any question. All MGA Tournaments are soft spoke only events.
